LMSA-Midwest

On behalf of the Latino Medical Student Association Midwest I cordially invite you to our 20th Annual Regional Conference Saturday January 16 through Sunday January 17^th 2010.  In addition to commemorating our two decades of working towards increasing diversity in medicine, advocating on behalf of Latin@ health care issues, educating ourselves and our peers on health care disparities, and celebrating Latin@ culture, this year we proudly introduce three events to our regional conference.    

Commencing this year, we will augment our conference with a Research Poster Presentation by our members, a LMSA MW Mentor of the Year Award, and a Conference Community Service Project. 

• The top abstract will be invited to orally present at our regional conference.  Judging of Posters will take place at the Poster Session January 16^th 2010, with Cash Prizes awarded to top presenters. 
• The Mentor of the Year Nominations will be available on the registration form.  The award will annually recognize top mentors in the Midwest, to encourage physician mentorship, and recognize and show appreciation to those who are helping LMSA MW members on their educational journey.  The winner(s) will be announced January 16th before our Midwest Business meeting.   
• Conference Community Service Project will take place Sunday January 17^th from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm.  We will be doing community service outreach in one of the many Latin@ neighborhoods in Chicago.  

As Co President of the Midwest Region I highly encourage everyone to attend this year’s conference.  There will be ample opportunities for learning and networking.  We are working hard to make this year’s conference worthy of the 20th Anniversary.  Registration forms will be available shortly on our website.  Fliers and agenda will follow.
