RSVP: LMSA MIDWEST HOUSE OF DELEGATE MEETING!

Dear Delegate,

Welcome back! It is our great pleasure to announce that our Annual House of Delegate’s Meeting will take place on August 29th, 2009 at 8:30 am at the University of Illinois Chicago in the city of Chicago, Illinois. Our House of Delegate’s meeting is an opportunity for the representatives of the schools t o network among themselves as well as with the LMSA Regional and National Executive Board. The main goal of this is to strengthen our organization and foment the collaboration of the different chapters at the regional level.
The meeting will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, August 29th. There will be a mixture of leadership training lectures, followed by our Regional Delegate business meeting. At our Regional Delegate meeting, each school’s delegate will speak about their chapter’s activities as well as their plans for the year. This is an opportunity to exchange ideas of the different activities each chapter is carrying out, as well as the annual goals for each chapter and the means to achieve them.  Delegates are encouraged to raise any concern or ideas their chapter might have regarding the goals that the region has set over the next year and into the future.
Since the central theme for the meeting will be Leadership, our House of Delegate’s meeting will be done in conjunction with the national leadership meeting GLAS (The Garcia Leadership and Advocacy Seminar). This is our prestigious Annual Seminar that all Regional and National board members attend and we are excited that Midwest delegates are going to have the opportunity to also be part of it! GLAS meeting will add to the schedule; speakers in different areas and leadership training lectures. The Final Schedule will be available shortly.
On Saturday Night, we will have a social outing in the beautiful city of Chicago, attendance to the event is completely voluntary and we highly encourage everyone’s participation. There will be some time to freshen up and change between the end of Saturday’s afternoon activities and our social event.
We are offering the delegate’s a student host in the city, however, student hosting will be available on a first-come first-serve basis. The earlier you RSVP to the event, the more likely we are to accommodate you with a student host. Every delegate coming to the meeting can have travel cost reimbursed for up to $50. Receipts must be provided the day of the meeting to our VP of Finance Tadeo Diaz Balderrama and reimbursements can only be processed after the meeting is held. Please allow a few weeks for a check to be mailed.
